Noel R. Love

Noel Love

Noel Love initially worked as an alcoholism counselor after enlisting in the Air Force a year out of high school.  Witnessing a change in his recently “sobered up” father, Noel embarked on a path that would eventually include fourteen years as a counselor and program administrator and twenty years as an educational consultant specializing in helping schools respond to serious issues like substance use disorder. Noel has published six articles in professional trade publications, including Adolescent Counselor, written a non-fiction book that looks at positive and solution-focused behavioral interventions, conducted hundreds of interventions for families across the nation, trained more than 30,000 teachers from more than 600 communities, and received national recognition for professional contributions in 1997 and 2002.  Noel has also authored three training curricula used in K-12 schools from coast to coast.

Noel integrates several therapy modalities that include a client-centered approach, EMDR, solution-focused interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems.  In keeping with best practices, Noel incorporates the client’s spirituality in the healing process and strives to create a collaborative relationship between himself and his client; a way for the client to access internal and external assets that serve in the resolution of conflicts, the healing of broken spirits and the restoration of damaged relationships.

Noel recieved his Master’s in Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria at Sugar Land, and is licensed in Texas as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC).  Noel conducts his practice in the Clear Lake area and works with people with a variety of disorders, including depression, PTSD, affective disorders, anxiety, family distress, grief and loss, codependency and substance use disorders.  Noel welcomes adults, couples, teens and families, depending on what you are seeking.  He offers individual counseling, couples counseling and family therapy.  Noel also facilitates a group process for clients engaged in early recovery and seeking the growth and support promoted in a group therapy setting.  Noel strongly supports the role of the Twelve Steps in his clients’ recovery and encourages active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Alanon meetings, with therapy serving a specific purpose that continues to support recovery.  Therapy is not recovery; it is a tool for one to more fully embrace and enjoy one's recovery.

In 2010, Noel wrote and published Stop in the Name of Love, a book about positive and solution-focused behavioral interventions.  The book is targeted to parents, educators and counselors who are responsible for conducting behavioral interventions, and is available on Amazon.com and Barnesandnobles.com.
